ASRY Welcomes Young Cancer Fighters for ‘Captain’s Day’ with Smile Initiative

To mark International Childhood Cancer Day, observed every 15 February the Arab Shipbuilding and Repair Yard Company (ASRY) held ‘Captain’s Day’ in partnership with the Smile Initiative, a program under the Future Society for Youth that provides emotional and psychological support to children in Bahrain with cancer.

As part of the event, ASRY welcomed a group of young cancer fighters, accompanied by their families, for a visit to the company’s facilities. The children had the chance to step into the role of a ship’s captain, taking part in an interactive experience aboard one of the docked vessels under repair.

ASRY’s Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Khalifa, speaking on the sidelines of the event, praised the efforts of everyone involved, particularly the volunteers from the Smile Initiative, whose ongoing support has helped lift the spirits of children battling cancer and bring them moments of joy. He also reaffirmed the company’s strong backing of humanitarian efforts aimed at making a meaningful difference for all members of the community.

ASRY’s collaboration with the Smile Initiative is part of its ongoing work to strengthen community partnerships and reinforce the values of generosity and solidarity, aiming to leave a lasting, positive mark on society and its people.
